However, the 2022 M2 iPad Pro brings the most advanced features and greatest performance in an iPad – but is it overkill? Follow along for a breakdown of all the similarities and differences between the 11″ M2 iPad Pro vs iPad Air to help you decide which is the best pick. If you need lots of storage or need and LTE model, then the 12.9” model may be better if the battery life is better. The 2022 iPad Air has the majority of features found in the 2021 iPad Pro like an M1 chip, ultra wide front camera with Center Stage, 5G connectivity, and more. 12.9” size may scare me too much it I wouldn’t want to take my ipad places with me.Īlso, I have a wifi only model with the lowest storage size. I am already extremely paranoid about my laptop or current ipad getting destroyed or damaged while being transported. I also have no idea if I would want to lug around a 12.9” tablet to and from places. Because of that I find the 11” size work for me (I also like the cheaper starting price of the 11” then the 12.9”). As I use it more as a hybrid of drawing, note taking, browsing, social media, shopping, calling, and video watching. I also do not draw that much on my ipad, so I don’t mind going with a lcd screen. I would love to got for the 12.9” pro but the price isnt worth it for me. It’s a good middle ground between my 6.7”/6.9” phone screen (I can’t remember what the exact size is it) and my 16” laptop screen. I find the size is fine in the 2 years I have had it. I got an 11” Pro with the apple student deal. I am also in the same boat with the new m2 ipad pro, but I decied on sticking with the 11”. Me, I needed an ultra-portable thin client to fill a gap between other devices in my home and at work, so I'm very happy with my 11". Spring for the bigger screen and be happy. Same deal if it's going to be your only device bigger than your phone. If you're dealing with FOMO and agonizing over the decision, the 12.9 is for you. This is always a YMMV question, your needs and use case aren't going to be an exact match for anyone else's. I seldom wish for a bigger iPad when reading on my 11" Pro (books and magazines and comics are awesome on this thing) or watching videos or gaming (if the size bugs me I can defer to or plug into any of the TVs or 'real' computers at my disposal), but when typing standing, with the iPad+MK on a navel-height surface, I wish I'd gone with the 12.9". If you're gonna throw the thing in a Magic Keyboard or Combo Touch and forget about it, or if your use case will primarily involve drawing on a table or stand, 12.9" is where it's at. If you're going to be holding the device itself a lot and using it as a notepad, the 11" will take a lot longer to give you carpal tunnel. I have pretty big hands and sometimes the 11” isnt super comfortable either. Its a pretty good size.ġ2.9 will definitely make your hands tires. In fact its the first time I’m encountering such a concept, just use it as any other notebook. Zooming in and out isn’t an issue for me. I assume you’re in a very similar situation. You’re however, 1) paying a LOT more, 2) compromising on portability and weight, 3) almost giving up tablet mode as its too big to hold in your hands.Įvery now and then I have the urge to upgrade mine to 12.9” but with a combo of M2 Macbook Air and A12Z iPad Pro 11” I dont think it will do me any good. I dont think there’ll be a problem for you doing hw or projects on 11” or watching movies but yea 12.9 is better for these things. It might be better to take notes but I guarantee you it wouldn’t make a big difference. I have 2020 Pro 11” now and for sure know 12.9” will be too big for cause reading or tablet use. Given your use case and knowing you have a Mac, I’d get the 11”. Point is, 11” wouldn’t be any less efficient than 12.9”. I bought 0 notebooks, just used iPad throughout (Notability). Plus, being a student allow me to get a good price on the last iPads (1100$ for the $ tax in) on the Apple Store.ĭude I literally used 9.7 through the last 2 years of college and grad school and had no issues in note taking. But I’m afraid the 11” is not comfortable for note taking as I don’t want to spend my time zooming in and out.Īlso, I don’t mind taking the M1 but I didn’t find any interesting deals here in Canada. I’d like it to be easy to move (to carry in labs or to put in my backpack) which would be perfect with the 11”. read books for school or just for my pleasure I’d love to only work on my iPad (projects, homeworks etc). take notes with the iPad pencil (in class and in labs). I’m an engineering student and I already own a 2020 MacBook Air (with 16Gb of RAM, 512Gb etc). I watched many videos, went to the Apple Store and spoke with friends of mine owning both sizes of the iPad Pro but I still can’t figure out what size I should take.
